The Association of economic cooperation with African states (AECAS)

The Association of economic cooperation with African states (AECAS) was created on April 12, 2020, on the instruction of the President of the Russian Federation. It unites Russian companies and financial institutions that have an interest in Africa or aim at entering the African market. Such world-renowned business structures, as LLC “Vi Holding”, JSC “Transmashholding”, JSC United Metallurgical Company, PLC Uralchem, PJSC Uralkali, JSC PhosAgro, SC “Rosatom”, JSC Gazprombank are among the members of AECAS.

The Association serves as a “bridge” for finding partners and integrated projects, holds tutorial webinars featuring the representatives of business and expert communities. It has signed partnership agreements with Roscongress Foundation, JSC Russian Export Center, TASS, Afreximbank, The Institute for African Studies (IAS) of the Russian Academy of Sciences (RAS), The Russian Association for International Cooperation, as well as with investment agencies of Senegal, Eswatini, Gabon and Cameroon. AECAS has its representatives in Madagascar, in the DRC and the Great Lakes district. Business-missions to South Africa, the DRC, Senegal, Nigeria and Ghana with the participation of AECAS member-companies were held successfully in April-May 2021.

In June 2021, AECAS co-organized Russia-Africa business-dialogue in the framework of the Saint-Petersburg international economic forum, and in the middle of November, 2021, it coordinated the participation of the Russian companies in the II Intra-African Trade Fair in Durban, South Africa – first event of such scale since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic. The Russian stand at IATF was recognized as best and won the «Best stand feature» award.

For African companies the Association can become a guide to the Russian market, help them build relationship with the necessary counterparts in business and official circles of Russia for mutually beneficial cooperation.

AECAS also holds events devoted to the media support of the activities of the Russian companies in Africa. The website and social networks of the Association have been launched; the implementation of the projects in social, cultural, sport sector and other humanitarian initiatives to support the activities of the Russian business in Africa are being worked out.
